Run an Analysis
Start a full IndexMind analysis covering website crawl, AI probe, and report generation. Track progress in real time and understand what each stage does.
An IndexMind analysis runs three stages in sequence: crawl, probe, and AI analysis. The entire process takes 2 to 10 minutes depending on the number of pages on your site. You can monitor each stage in real time from the project dashboard.
How to start an analysis
Open your project
Navigate to Projects in the sidebar and click the project you want to analyze.
Click Run Full Analysis
Click the Run Full Analysis button in the top-right corner of the project dashboard. The button shows a loading state while the analysis initializes.
Monitor progress
The dashboard displays a progress indicator showing the current stage (Crawling, Probing, Analyzing) and the percentage complete. You can navigate away and come back. The analysis continues in the background.
Review results
When the analysis finishes, the dashboard automatically refreshes with your new report. A notification also appears if you are on a different page.
What happens during each stage
Stage 1: Crawl (30 to 120 seconds)
The crawler visits every discoverable page on your site up to your plan's page limit. It collects:
- Page titles, meta descriptions, and headings
- Structured data (JSON-LD, schema markup)
- Internal link structure
- Content blocks and word counts
- Technical SEO signals (canonical tags, robots directives, page speed indicators)
Stage 2: Probe (60 to 300 seconds)
AI probes query major language models (GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, and others) with questions relevant to your industry and domain. The probes measure:
- Whether your brand or content appears in AI-generated responses
- How prominently your site is cited compared to competitors
- Which topics your site is associated with in AI models
- Accuracy of AI-generated information about your business
Stage 3: AI Analysis (30 to 120 seconds)
IndexMind's analysis engine processes crawl and probe data to generate:
- Your overall AI Optimization Score (0 to 100)
- Scores for each of the four pillars (Content Quality, Technical SEO, AI Visibility, Citation Authority)
- Specific recommendations with priority levels and auto-generated fixes
Each analysis run counts against your monthly analysis limit. Free plans allow 1 per month, Starter allows 10, and Pro allows unlimited. Check your remaining quota in Settings > Billing.
Partial analyses
If a stage fails (for example, the crawl times out or a probe encounters rate limits), IndexMind saves whatever data it collected and marks the analysis as partial. You can:
- Retry the failed stage by clicking Retry next to the error message.
- View partial results for stages that completed successfully.
- Start a new full analysis if you prefer to begin fresh.
See Crawl Issues and Probe Issues for help with common failures.
Scan history
Every completed or partial analysis is stored in your scan history. Access it from the History tab on your project dashboard. You can:
- Compare any two scans side by side
- Track your AI Optimization Score over time
- Download individual reports as PDF
Next steps
Once your analysis completes, read your report to understand the results and identify areas for improvement.
