Create a Project

Set up your first IndexMind project with your website URL and business context.

In IndexMind, a project represents a single website you want to analyze for AI visibility. Each project tracks its own scores, recommendations, history, and competitor landscape. You can create multiple projects if you manage more than one site.

Step 1: Enter your website

After signing in, click New Project from your dashboard. You will be prompted to provide the following details:

  • Project name: Auto-filled from your domain (e.g., example.com becomes "Example"). You can edit this to anything you like.
  • Website URL: Enter the full URL of the site you want to analyze (e.g., https://www.example.com). IndexMind validates the format and checks that the domain is reachable.
  • Target country: Select the primary country your site serves. This helps IndexMind tailor AI visibility probes to the correct regional context.
  • Target location: Optionally narrow down to a specific city or region for local SEO and local AI visibility scoring.

Project creation: enter your website URL

Step 2: Add business context

Business context is what makes IndexMind's analysis truly relevant to your site. Instead of generic scores, IndexMind uses this information to evaluate your AI visibility through the lens of your actual business.

Why this matters

AI systems interpret your site differently depending on your industry, audience, and the keywords you target. Providing accurate business context ensures that:

  • Recommendations are specific to your niche, not generic best practices
  • Competitor comparisons match your actual market
  • Keyword analysis reflects the terms your audience uses

Fields to complete

  • Site type: Select the category that best describes your website: SaaS, Agency, Local Business, E-commerce, Blog/Publisher, or Other.
  • Industry: Choose your industry from the dropdown list. This drives industry-specific benchmarks and scoring adjustments.
  • Audience scope: Indicate whether your audience is Local (city or region), Online (national or global), or Both. This affects how location-based probes are configured.
  • Primary keywords: Enter the keywords your site should rank for. You can type them manually or use the auto-generate option to let IndexMind detect keywords from your existing site content.

Project creation: business context and keywords

Use the "Generate keywords" button to auto-detect keywords from your site content. IndexMind crawls your homepage and key pages to suggest relevant terms, so you can review, edit, or add to the list before saving.

What happens next

Once you complete project setup, IndexMind redirects you to your new project dashboard. Depending on your plan and settings, your first analysis may start automatically, or you can trigger it manually from the dashboard. Head to Run Your First Analysis to learn what to expect.
