Risk Profiles
Set Bob's confidence threshold for taking action.
Bob assigns a confidence score to every recommendation he makes. Your risk profile sets the minimum confidence threshold Bob must meet before he surfaces a proposed action or auto-executes a fix. This gives you fine-grained control over the trade-off between action volume and action quality.
The three profiles
Conservative (70% confidence or higher)
Bob only acts when he is highly confident the recommendation will have a positive impact. This profile produces fewer actions overall, but each one carries a higher likelihood of success.
Best for:
- New users still getting familiar with Bob's recommendations
- Sensitive or high-traffic sites where incorrect changes carry significant risk
- Regulated industries where every change needs strong justification
Balanced (60% confidence or higher)
The default setting for all new organizations. Balanced mode gives you a good mix of action volume and recommendation quality. Bob surfaces a steady stream of improvements without overwhelming you with low-confidence proposals.
Best for:
- Most users and teams
- Sites in active optimization where you want consistent forward progress
- Teams comfortable reviewing a moderate volume of proposals
Aggressive (50% confidence or higher)
Bob surfaces more actions at a faster pace, including recommendations where he is reasonably confident but not certain. This profile maximizes the number of optimization opportunities you see, but some proposals may require more scrutiny.
Best for:
- Experienced SEO practitioners comfortable evaluating and filtering recommendations
- Sites in early-stage optimization with many potential improvements
- Teams that prefer to see all possibilities and make their own judgment calls
Start with Balanced and adjust based on your comfort level with Bob's recommendations. You can change your risk profile at any time without losing existing action items.
How confidence scores work
When Bob analyzes your site data and identifies a potential improvement, he assigns a confidence score between 0% and 100% based on:
- Data quality: How complete and recent the underlying crawl and probe data is
- Impact evidence: Whether similar changes have shown measurable improvement in comparable contexts
- Risk assessment: The potential for negative side effects if the recommendation is incorrect
- Specificity: How precisely Bob can define the change (exact code vs. general guidance)
Only recommendations that meet or exceed your risk profile's threshold appear in your Action Plan or are eligible for auto-execution.
Changing your risk profile
- Navigate to /app/agent and open the Guardrails page.
- Under Risk Profile, select Conservative, Balanced, or Aggressive.
- Click Save to apply the change.
The new profile takes effect immediately for all future recommendations. Existing actions in your Action Plan are not affected because they were already surfaced under your previous threshold.
